6 Yakuza
Yakuza is a game that takes the concept of limit breaks and takes it to a whole new level. The games in this series allow players to charge up Heat with their actions before unleashing it in dazzling spectacles of power called Heat Moves. These cinematic attacks depend on the situation and allow players to take out most enemies with a single move!
The fact that the games are absolutely loaded with Heat Moves makes them an absolute blast to pull off in battle. These Heat Moves can change based on the number of enemies, the location, the weapon being wielded, and a ton of other factors. 5 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 is arguably the best spin-off game of the series ever made. Square Enix went all out for this game, expanding on the story of Zack Fair while also enrichening the lore of the Final Fantasy 7 universe as well. The end result is a brilliant action JRPG with amazing set pieces that fans of the original Final Fantasy 7 will have a great time with.

Many people are elated that this game is getting a remaster for modern hardware. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 uses a slot machine that rolls constantly during combat, called Digital Mind Wave or DMW. Depending on the player’s odds and their performance in combat, the DMW triggers at random intervals and allows them to align portraits and numbers to carry out special attacks that hit for a ton of damage. It’s a pretty unique spin on the limit break mechanic that fans can’t wait to play around with in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.
4 Persona
The Persona series is a spin-off from the mainline Shin Megami Tensei franchise that slowly gained an identity of its own over time to become one of the most popular JRPGs developed by Atlus. The idea of high schoolers getting supernatural powers and teaming up to take down a massive evil has become a joke of sorts, but it’s the addictive life-sim mechanics coupled with the amazing stories of these games that make Persona such a beloved series.
The combat might not feature limit breaks in the traditional sense, but there are more than enough engaging mechanics at play during a battle that qualifies as such. For starters, the All-Out attack is a series staple that fans love pulling off once they recognize an enemy’s weakness. Along with this, there are Follow-Up Attacks and Showtime moves, with the latter being added in Persona 5 Royal.
