From Harry Potter to Marvel to Disney, LEGO has partnered with some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names. The video gaming industry is another to receive the brick treatment, predominantly with the many movie tie-in games that have been released over the last couple of decades. However, the tables are starting to turn, with video games now finding themselves in brick form; including a few that Nintendo fans will love.

LEGO’s voyage into the world of Nintendo has only reached Mario so far, though hopefully more sets will be arriving in the future, as Zelda, Pokémon, and Animal Crossingall seem like tantalizing IPs for LEGO to delve into.

7 Nintendo Entertainment System

The Nintendo Entertainment System set does exactly what it says on the tin, providing a fantastic LEGO iteration of the classic console. The set comes with LEGO iterations of the NES console, a controller, a Super Mario Bros. cartridge that can slot into the console, and a complex old-school television.

That’s not all, as the set allows the consumer to move Mario across the screen. By turning a handle on the TV, the screen will scroll, and Mario will appear to be running around and avoiding obstacles. As one would expect with such a complex set, the Nintendo Entertainment System isn’t cheap, but it’s a fantastic design that pays homage to arguably the gaming industry’s most important console, making it a wonderful option for Nintendo fans.

6 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block

The Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block is an excellent choice for anyone wanting a set for display. The question mark block initially appears to be nothing more than a closed box, but it can be opened to reveal a selection of platforms. These platforms are home to classic locations from the Nintendo 64 game, including Peach’s Castle; Cool, Cool Mountain; Bob-omb Battlefield; and Lethal Lava Land.

5 The Team-Up Bundle

The Team-Up Bundle contains the Adventures With Mario Starter Course and the Adventures With Luigi Starter Course, making it a fantastic option for anyone wanting to delve into the LEGO Super Mario universe.

The most important part of the sets is the Mario and Luigi figures. These aren’t just ordinary LEGO pieces, as they are able to give expressive responses with an LCD screen and speaker. Moreover, the figures let players earn digital coins connected to the free LEGO Super Mario App.

4 Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set

Once the aforementioned starter set has been purchased, the consumer can delve into the LEGO Super Mario expansion sets.

When deciding which expansion set to start with, Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle is an obvious choice. The set contains 1,010 pieces and includes the iconic villain Bowser himself, along with a few notable minions. The set provides the perfect challenge for those wanting to expand their starter set, letting players take on Nintendo’s most famous villain.

3 Bowser’s Airship Expansion Set

For those that would rather take the fight to the skies, Bowser’s Airship Expansion Set provides the perfect solution. The Airship should ideally be purchased after the Bowser’s Castle set as the Airship doesn’t come with the leading villain himself. That certainly doesn’t mean that Bowser’s Airship is safe, however, as the expansion set comes with Rocky Wrench, Kamek, and a Goomba.

The Airship also offers impressive variety, as it can be built in ‘flying mode’ or an unfolded ‘course mode.’

2 King Boo and the Haunted Yard Expansion Set

The King Boo and the Haunted Yard Expansion Set lets players create one of the Super Mario franchise’s iconic haunted house levels. The set is also a great gift option right now, with Halloween just around the corner.

The King Boo Expansion Set contains 431 pieces and includes King Boo, Swoops, and Goombas. With this expansion set, the Bowser’s Castle set, Bowser’s Airship set, and of course, the Mario and Luigi starter sets, the consumer will be able to create their own Super Mario adventure in brick form.

1 Hyrule Castle (LEGO Ideas)

Unfortunately, The Legend of Zelda hasn’t received the brick treatment thus far. However, the beauty of LEGO is that no design is off limits with a bit of creativity, which is what makes LEGO Ideas such a fantastic concept.

LEGO Ideas is a website that lets LEGO enthusiasts share their creations which can then be voted on by fans. This isn’t just for fun, as those who receive enough support will have the chance to win prizes or even have their design sold on LEGO store shelves!

There are many fantastic designs on the site that Nintendo fans will love, though Artem Biziaev’s Hyrule Castle may just be the best. The designer does a fantastic job of capturing the iconic castle, and the set would surely sell a ton of units if Zelda fans were able to get their hands on it.
