RELATED: Genshin Impact: Hardest Bosses (& How To Beat Them)
Of course, some characters would work well with everyone, like Xingqiu or Bennett. Yet, they still perform significantly better with a certain character. Pairing the best possible characters can ease any battle the Traveler will have in their journey. In addition, it will help players finish the Spiral Abyss more smoothly. So, what are the best pairs in Genshin Impact so far?
Updated on February 21, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: Genshin Impact continues to consistently release new characters in almost every version. Many of them are very niche supports like Gorou, Shenhe, or Kujou Sara. While they may be limited with team compositions, their specific utility allows them to be the best pair with certain characters. For example, Kujou Sara is a brilliant buffer for Electro characters at full constellations. Meanwhile, Shenhe can massively boost her entire team’s Cryo damage. As for the rest of the pairs, here are some new additions to the list.
13 Yun Jin And Yoimiya
When Yoimiya was first released, she faced a lot of issues and backlash, where she is seen as an underwhelming DPS in Genshin Impact. While she still doesn’t have the absolutely perfect teammate, the release of Yun Jin in version 2.4 adds to the list of viable team compositions for Yoimiya.
Yun Jin’s Elemental Burst will buff her teammates’ Normal Attack. As Yoimiya highly relies on this talent, Yun Jin becomes the perfect pair for her. However, it’s important to note that the damage buff from the Opera Performer does not scale with the bonus from Yoimiya’s Elemental Skill.
12 Gorou And Itto
Itto is another Genshin Impact character whose hits scales with Defense. Just like most defensive characters, Itto also wields the Geo Vision. This makes Gorou the perfect pair for him.
The Canine Warrior is a support that grants Defense and Geo damage buff. His Elemental Skill gives a flat Defense bonus while his first Passive grants a 25% Defense bonus to his party after he casts his Burst. If players manage to get Gorou’s C6, the Watatsumi General can also add (up to) a 40% Critical damage bonus for Geo damage.
11 Yae Miko And Sangonomiya Kokomi
Currently, Yae Miko fails to fit mainstream team compositions. She couldn’t replace the utilities provided by Raiden Shogun nor the ones given by Fischl. Nevertheless, the Guuji of the Narukami Shrine can still be a great off-field Sub-DPS.
If players pair Yae Miko with Kokomi, the Watatsumi Priestess will provide constant Hydro application and allow the Kitsune to continuously trigger Electro-Charged. As Yae Miko’s Skill benefits from extra Elemental Mastery, having more of this stat will also cause the Electro-Charged damage to be boosted.
Yae Miko can even be built as a support for Kokomi. With the Hakushin Ring and four Tenacity of the Milelith, the fox will buff both Kokomi’s Attack and Hydro Damage bonus.
10 Hu Tao And Xingqiu
Hu Tao and Xingqiu are currently one of the most famous combos in Genshin Impact. Hu Tao’s damage alone is already above average. Matching her with one of the best Supports in the game can lead to greater results.
With Xingqiu, Hu Tao practically gains unlimited access to Vaporize, especially when using her Charged Attack. Xingqiu is also a deadly combo with Hu Tao when his Elemental Burst is active. Furthermore, Xingqiu provides protection and minor healing for Hu Tao. Hu Tao shouldn’t be healed excessively as she performs better with low HP, so Xingqiu is the perfect pair for her.
9 Sucrose And Xiao
Xiao is an outstanding DPS in Genshin Impact. However, most of his damage comes from his Elemental Burst. This means players should aim for 100% uptime on his Vigilant Yaksha state. This is where Xiao’s weakness lies. Xiao’s Elemental Skill does decent damage, but it’s not enough to fill his own Elemental Burst. For this reason, Xiao desperately needs a battery.
Sucrose is the perfect battery for Xiao, especially if players have her first Constellation and equip her with Sacrificial Fragments. Sucrose offers crowd control and an Elemental Mastery boost. Moreover, having two Anemo in one team will activate the Anemo Resonance, which decreases the team’s skills Cooldown.
8 Eula And Raiden Shogun
Eula is currently the best Physical DPS in Genshin Impact. As a Cryo unit, all Eula needs is a good Electro Support, and none is better at that job than the Raiden Shogun herself. The Electro Archon can easily trigger Superconduct with Eula. This reduces enemies’ resistance to Physical damage.
Not only that, but Eula’s Elemental Burst hits really hard. With Raiden’s support, Eula will gain up to 24% Elemental Burst damage addition. This is a better bonus than Noblesse Oblige. With Raiden Shogun, it’s easy for Eula to reach her maximum potential.
7 Kazuha And Bennett
Kazuha and Bennett are currently one of the top meta in Genshin Impact. When these two supports are paired together, the team’s overall damage will increase significantly. However, that’s not the only reason why this pair is one of the best.
As an Anemo character, Kazuha has the ability to infuse an Element with his kit. Elemental Infusion can occur when he uses Anemo on an enemy affected by Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. Moreover, Elemental Infusion can also occur when Kazuha is affected by an Element himself.
RELATED: Genshin Impact: Tips For Using Kazuha
When Bennett uses his Elemental Burst, he applies Pyro on Kazuha. This allows Kazuha to easily get Pyro infusion on his Burst and Skill. Bennett will also buff Kazuha’s Attack while Kazuha will buff everyone’s Pyro damage bonus. Furthermore, if players own Bennett’s sixth Constellation, Kazuha can also deal Pyro damage on his Normal Attacks, allowing him to be a Pyro Main DPS.
6 Ningguang And Zhongli
Ningguang may be a 4-star character in Genshin Impact, but her power should not be underestimated. The Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing can greatly deal raw damage because she’s a Geo character. When paired with Zhongli, Ningguang performs on an entirely new level. Zhongli’s shield will boost her damage and reduce enemies’ resistance to Geo.
Additionally, Zhongli’s Geo damage will increase when he passes through Ningguang’s Jade Screen. This allows him to deal more damage with his Elemental Burst, Planet Befall. Not only do their Elemental Skills and Bursts complement each other, but Ningguang and Zhongli are both Geo users. Having both will activate the Geo Resonance.
Geo Resonance has these effects:
Increases shield strength by 15% Amplifies damage by 15% when protected by a shield When dealing damage, decreases enemy’s Geo resistance by 20%
5 Tartaglia And Beidou
Tartaglia is best known for the videos showcasing the damage of his Elemental Burst, Havoc: Obliteration. Having said that, his true potential actually lies in his Elemental Skill, Foul Legacy: Raging Tide.
Tartaglia’s AOE damage is often overlooked. With Beidou’s Elemental Burst, Stormbreaker, she will shield Tartaglia and both will continuously trigger Electro-Charged. This further amplifies the AOE damage. Beidou can also take the DPS role when Tartaglia’s Elemental Skill goes into its long cooldown.
Beidou and Childe are commonly known as the Firework comp. This team will require another Electro character to battery Beidou. Usually, Fischl takes this job, but now, Raiden Shogun is viable as well.
4 Ayaka And Mona
Ayaka’s best-in-slot artifact is 4-Blizzard Strayer. With this set, players can focus solely on raising her Critical damage, as the artifact will boost Ayaka’s Critical Rate. However, for this to happen, Ayaka needs someone to freeze enemies. This is where Mona comes in.
RELATED: Genshin Impact: Mistakes Players Make When Using Ayaka
Mona’s Elemental Skill is handy to apply Hydro on enemies. She can also deal Hydro damage the whole fight since she’s a Catalyst user. With Mona, it’s trivial for Ayaka to freeze the opponents. Furthermore, Ayaka can deal massive damage with her Attacks, especially when enemies are affected by Mona’s Omen. Omen is created via Mona’s Elemental Burst, Stellaris Phantasm.
3 Razor And Kaeya
Before Eula made her debut to Genshin Impact, Razor’s Physical DPS was second to none. The Attack speed buff that Razor gets from his Elemental Burst helps him deal massive damage in a short period.
Adding Kaeya to Razor’s team will greatly enhance his damage. Kaeya’s Elemental Burst has a continuous Cryo application with a melee range. Not only will it be easy to trigger Superconduct, but Kaeya’s Elemental Burst is also an off-field skill, which means Kaeya doesn’t have to be active to use it.
2 Ganyu And Venti
What happens when players combine two overpowered characters into one pair? Ganyu doesn’t really need anyone in her team to wipe enemies off the map. The secretary of the Liyue Qixing packs some serious damage with her arrows. On the other hand, Venti’s Elemental Burst is broken. Venti can pull small enemies into his vortex and reduce their Elemental resistance if Swirl occurs.
Venti’s Elemental Burst will collect the enemies in one place for Ganyu to finish quickly. He will also reduce their Cryo resistance if he triggers Cryo Swirl. If players pair Venti with a Pyro or Hydro character, Ganyu can easily trigger Melt or Frozen.
1 Chongyun And Diluc
Chongyun is not that popular because of his Cryo field, Chonghua’s Layered Frost. The field infuses all melee weapons with Cryo, which can render some characters useless. However, anything can become useful if it was used in the right place.
In the case of Diluc, Chongyun’s field is a blessing to him. Diluc’s famous combo of one Normal Attack, one Skill allows him to continuously create Melt damage. Additionally, Chongyun’s second Constellation reduces Diluc’s Elemental Skill and Burst cooldown, further increasing his DPS. Diluc also allows Chongyun to deal reversed-Melt, making the two a great combo.
Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
