There are a lot of Kits to choose from in The Sims 4. Here, we’ve ranked 8 of the best ones players can get. These kits add some nicely designed, well-thought-out items to the game, with a strong theme for each one.

8 Country Kitchen

The Country Kitchen Kit is similar to the Cottage Living Expansion Pack: if players love that homely, rustic, cozy vibe, this is the one to go for. Standout items include the retro fridge and retro cooker, which look much prettier than the usual fridges and cookers available in The Sims 4.

The focus on the kitchen means players will get a wide range of cabinets and wall shelves, which make it really easy to create that cluttered, homely look. In fact, the kit introduces some new clutter items, including an oven dish, bread bin, and some flowers. (A bonus tip: use the cheat bb.moveobjects to rotate and arrange clutter in a more natural way.)

7 Industrial Loft

In contrast to the more homely packs, Industrial Loft adds some modern items ideal for apartments. Inspired by industrial lofts in Brooklyn, there are some very nice items in this kit, including wood-and-steel beds and sofas, and some cool, chunky wall decorations. The neon lighting is a particularly nice touch.

The best thing about the Industrial Loft Kit is the windows and doors. If players like large, almost floor-to-ceiling windows, they will enjoy the items on offer in this kit. The sliding doors are nice, too. The whole pack works really well with the City Living Expansion Pack.

6 Throwback Fit

Time to get retro! Throwback Fit is a clothing-based kit with some excellent retro items. A common complaint about The Sims 4 is the lack of nice casual clothing, but this kit adds some key items that players can use again and again. The hoodies and crop tops look great, and the bucket hats are a nice nod to the ’90s.

There are some children’s items available too, including tracksuits and an adorable sunflower bucket hat. The footwear is incredible, with some ’80s-style sneakers in rainbow colors for all Sims to enjoy.

5 Decor to the Max

This is not a pack for minimalists! Decor to the Max adds some eclectic items to the mix, in a range of bold patterns. The carpets and wallpapers are interesting, with the tiger-patterned wallpaper being a good choice for feature walls.

Also available are statement lamps, rugs, and some extremely colorful sofas. Ideal if players want to build a mansion stuffed with interesting treasures to find, or a modern apartment with a few standout items. The fireplace is a good addition to the game, and it has some great color swatches to match any room.

4 Fashion Street

Fashion Street introduces a whole bunch of new clothing to the game, including bright, flowing fabrics and accessories. Inspired by the fashion of Mumbai, players can expect bright clothing in contemporary cuts and some fun accessories.

The jewelry is particularly great: think beautiful dangly earrings, sparkling bangles, and nose rings. Plus, it introduces some new Henna hand tattoos to the game. Fashion Street has some amazing items, and it’s well worth introducing to the game if players want some new clothing in Create-A-Sim.

3 Bust the Dust

Bust the Dust is an interesting pack. It’s slightly controversial, as some players feel these items should have been included in the Laundry Day Stuff Pack, and it was pretty buggy on launch. It introduces the entire concept of dust to the game, so of course, that includes some key items like vacuums to help Sims combat the grime. It feels a little more like a small Game Pack than a kit, in that it actually impacts the gameplay.

Dust and dirt will start to build up over a few days, so Sims will have to use the new items to clean up. If they don’t tackle the dust quickly enough, Dust Bunnies will emerge. Weirdly enough, Dust Bunnies are actually useful: they can fetch items for Sims, including Simoleons, and they can become friends with Sims if their Happiness level is high enough.

2 Blooming Rooms

This is a pack for plant lovers. It introduces a ton of beautiful plants to the game, from hanging plants to large pot plants. Players can build the botanical haven of their dreams using this kit. It also comes with a range of plant stands, so players can arrange their new plants wherever they want them.

There are some larger items too, like the Plant Cage, which is kind of like an indoor greenhouse and cabinet combined. Players can also use plants instead of curtains using this kit, just to really display their love of foliage. Overall, it’s a useful pack, and the Buy Mode items will slot nicely into just about every build imaginable.

1 Courtyard Oasis

If players want to build a beautiful outdoor space, Courtyard Oasis is the kit to go for. It’s a Moroccan-inspired kit that introduces patterned tiles and interesting-shaped doors with archways, as well as new pillars and stairs. It’s a nice kit if players want to build relaxing, pretty courtyards. Plus, the patterned tiles work well in different areas of the house, too.

Courtyard Oasis has some interesting items, like lanterns, new plants, and octagonal-shaped coffee tables. The standout item has to be the fountain, which is beautiful, and players can use tiles underneath it to create a focal point.

The Sims 4 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
